(2019/03) From a workshop with just four craftsmen in Ishinomaki to a multi-hectare factory in Aichi prefecture, observe the birth of a new collaboration between Ishinomaki Laboratory and Karimoku, two Japanese companies specializing in wood-based furniture manufacturing.
With particular attention to ordinary situations, the collection of images assembled in the following pages documents a six-day journey in each company’s respective universe, outlining the delicate interactions between the furniture and user, body and material, machine and place. As embodied by the products born from this collaboration, these photographs aim to reflect a raw beauty and true passion for wooden furniture making.
